FOXe: What can and can't be recycled

TROY, Mich. (FOX 2) - Everyone wants to recycle, but not everyone knows what exactly can be recycled.

Derek Kevra went to the SOCRRA material recovery Faculty in Troy to ask some questions and show what happens to what we drop off.

Lucas Dean, the supervisor at SOCCRA says you can't recycle:

-Styrofoam

-plastic shopping bags

-pet food bags

-hangers

-batteries

But many items can be recycled if you bring them to the facility, which will be processed free of charge. But the rules of what can go inside your curbside recycling bin are stricter.

Derek Kevra brought some items from his actual bin to see if he is doing it right.
