Fraser Police: drunk driver kicked out window of cop car

The Fraser Police Department said Tuesday that a drunk man became so belligerent after being arrested that he kicked out a window of the cop car and bent the frame of the cruiser.

25-year-old Donathan Smith was arrested in Frazer Saturday just before midnight. An officer reported seeing a car stopped on Groesbeck just south of 14 Mile. The said he saw the man behind the wheel toss a bottle of alcohol from the car before the officer got there.

When the cop talked to Smith, he said he found a cup of alcohol in the vehicle and Smith did not have a driver's license. Smith was put into the back of his cruiser while he waited for a tow truck to take his car. That's when things got worse.

Smith was so angry, police say, that he started hurling profanities while banging on the divider between the seats of the patrol car. Then he started kicking anything he could, including the back window of the car behind the driver's side.

Police say he kicked so hard, he bent the frame of the door. He was handcuffed and taken to the Fraser Police Department. On the way, he kicked the rear window again and shattered the glass of the cop car.

He was booked on several charges including a felony charge of destruction of police property, driving with an open container, and driving without a license.
