Let It Rip Weekend: Do the Detroit Lions Need Cheerleaders? The Players Weigh In

Local and global sports are in the news again and Fox2 went to source, talking to professional athletes and well respected observers for this edition of Let It Rip Weekend. Two members of the Detroit Lions, defensive back Don Carey and new offensive lineman Geoff  Schwartz, joined the panel and shared their thoughts about competing in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio despite growing concerns about the Zika virus and other health issues related to polluted water. They also discussed the impact of cheerleaders on football from a player’s perspective and whether or not the Lions should invest in creating a cheer squad to enhance the game-day experience. Joining them was Rico Beard of Detroit Sports 105.1 FM, who had opinions on those topics and recent comments made by college football standout Christian McCaffrey.
