17-year-old teen abducted, raped on way to school

A teen girl in Detroit was kidnapped and raped on her way to school.

She was walking to a bus stop when the man forced her into an abandoned house and raped. Police are looking for the suspect who is described as African-American and in his 50s.

The 17-year-old was at the bus stop on E. Seven Mile at Hawthorne just two blocks east of I-75 at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. But she was being watched by a predator.

"She is a young girl and a sweet girl," said Debbie, a neighbor. "She was just going to school and this happens, that's not fair."

Debbie, who declined to give her last name, lives in the neighborhood said the victim is her nephew's girlfriend.

Debbie came to the bus stop hoping to find a clue or something to help identify who it is. Debbie worries for other girls until this man is caught.

"What about the other girls going to school," she said. "I have been around here 27 years and took plenty of girls to school.”

Police are not sure the suspect is from the neighborhood, officers are hoping that tips and DNA will lead toward an arrest.
