Three suspects are wanted after a deadly home invasion on Detroit's west side early Friday morning.

We're told a man was shot in the face and killed around 3 a.m. at his home in the 17000 block of Ward Avenue, which is near McNichols Road and the John C Lodge Freeway.

Family has identified the victim to us as 60-year-old Lester Taylor. His wife, Margie Taylor, says he heard the doorbell and let the visitors inside the home.

She says the suspects were inside for about five minutes before she heard gunshots. Then, she says she heard footsteps coming towards the room she was in, so she shut the door, escaped out a window and called for help.

"They wanted to kill whoever was in there; they ain't going to try to leave no witnesses [sic]," Margie tells us. "I was able to get out of there, and I'm a witness. And I'm going to make sure, whoever did this? They're going to jail. I don't care if it takes me 10 years. They're going to jail."

Lester was taken to the hospital where he later died.

"My brother called me and told me my dad got shot," Les Monet Taylor tells us. "We rushed down here, and when we made it down here, I didn't have no answers. I got here; we rushed to the hospital. My aunt came back. They didn't tell us nothing. We sat in a room; they came back and just told us he was gone." We're told Les Monet Taylor is one of the victim's 13 children.

Margie says she believes her husband knew who was at the door, otherwise he wouldn't have let them inside. We're told the three suspects also went into the basement of the home and stole some personal items, including some medical marijuana.

They were last seen running away from the neighborhood.

Police have not yet given a description of the suspects.
