Couple assaulted and robbed at home wants stolen dog back

DETROIT (WJBK) - A brutal attack on a couple by four masked men who broke into their southwest Detroit home.

The couple was held down while the thieves stole nearly everything of value including their dog.

"People are just vicious and cruel," said a relative of the couple. "I don't understand why people do the things they do."

Detroit police say Feb.10 around 4 a.m. the couple was sleeping when four men wearing masks broke into their home on Gladys street.

Robbed. Beaten. Sexually assaulted and their beloved dog, stolen. A southwest Detroit couple who is recovering from a brutal attack, is asking everyone if they have seen their pit bull Blue?

"She is 2 years old, she has clipped ears and a white chest," the relative said. "She's very friendly, she's been a family dog."

The couple and their family fear for their lives and asked not to be identified.

"They kicked the door in and, I don't know who did it," the relative said. "I don't have a clue."

A family member said the masked men stole electronics, jewelry and money and even their security system.

Then, holding pillows over their faces, brutally beat them both and sexually assaulted the woman.

Those men remain at large.

"Sick people, without conscience, without morals," the relative said.

Before leaving the family believes the men took Blue, who was still wearing her collar and tags. Family members say Blue, would never leave on her own.

"When I heard about it I ran right over there," the family member said. "I would like to get this poor dog back because I know what can happen to a pit bull in the city."

The couple's family says Blue may have been spotted twice without her collar, about two blocks away at a vacant gas station.

"The next day the dog was seen one block over on Hanson, getting into a car with somebody," the relative said. "It was a woman, and the woman said the dog jumped back out."

Now the family is praying for her safe return.

"No questions asked," the relative said. "Just bring the dog back."

Anyone with information about the suspects or Blue, should contact Detroit police at 313-596-5400. The Detroit Dog Rescue is also offering a $2,000 reward for Blue's return.
