Shooting suspect Lenell Kirby

A family is pleading with a deadly domestic violence suspect to turn himself in.

Lenell Kirby is wanted after a double shooting last weekend. His girlfriend is dead and a second victim is fighting to stay alive.

Lynecia Autrey Gaston's 28-year-old sister Tyiela was fatally shot and Lynecia's daughter 22-year-old Kiera was critically wounded.

"(It is) the worst thing ever, for me the worst thing ever," Lynecia Autrey Gaston. "Kiera is doing okay right now. I don't have any tears in my eyes right now because I have been with her all night. She is doing great, she is moving, she is able to write."

It happened Sunday morning at their home in the 18000 block of Grandville on Detroit's west side.

The suspect, 28 year-old Lenell Kirby was Tyiela's boyfriend and is still at large. Police was on his trail Sunday but he got away.

His mother Linda Kirby spoke with reporters on Monday.

"Turn yourself in Lenell," she said. "Everything will be fine."

Kiera is an Army veteran, shot in the head. Somehow she managed to call 911 and then call her mother.

"She said 'Mama I got shot,' and she was screaming," Gaston said. "But as I am walking down the stairs to get in my van I heard five more shots - on the phone."

"Kiera Autrey is going to be alright," Gaston said. "Tyiela, rest baby."
