Family identifies body as missing 24-year-old Kajavia Globe

DETROIT (WJBK) - The family of a young woman who had been missing for multiple days says a body found on Detroit's west side is that of Kajavia Globe.

According to Globe's mother, they were able to identify her based on personal items found with the body. Tuesday afternoon, she positively identified her child.

Monday evening, authorities found a woman's body behind a house on Fielding, just south of Seven Mile Road.

Assistant Police Chief Steve Dolunt said there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body. One day later, family, friends, and neighbors still were in disbelief.

"This is horrendous and to do something like this to anybody, let alone to her, is just unacceptable," Kajavia's Middle School Teacher, Lorraine Caver said.

Although the Globe family says they were prepared for the horrible news, they say confirmation is too much to bear and were too distraught to speak on camera.

Globe, 24, was last seen Friday afternoon. Her gold 2003 Chevrolet Impala was found Monday morning near Keeler and Chatham. Detroit police sources said they found blood and her purse inside her car.

"It's tragic I had no idea it was so close to home," Neighbor Sylvester Daniels said. "Did anyone see anything? No one saw anything? "

Police released pictures of a masked man in Globe's car using her ATM card at the Fifth Third Bank on Telegraph Road off Seven Mile Road. Many believe her killer is still on the loose and may be someone she knew.

However, Detroit Police Chief James Craig was not ready to name suspects yet.

"To say that we can point to one person or a couple of people certainly would be speculation at this time," Chief Craig said.

While police continue to search for her killer, a march for Kajavia is planned for this weekend -- in what community members call a walk for justice, peace and protection.

"They lost this young lady, something so senseless - and leave her out their dead. They just Left her out there," march organizer Dana Harris said. "It could be your loved one. Wouldn't you want someone to stand up for you and yours? I would."

The march is set for Saturday at 4 p.m. The plan is to meet at 7 Mile and Evergreen and walk to Telegraph, where her body was found.
