Keep out! Ford develops 'spider screen' for your car

(WJBK) - Currently thinking of a way to keep the pesky spiders out of your car? Think no more. Ford engineers did the work for you.

They developed a spider screen that keeps yellow sac spiders from building cocoon-like webs under the hood of your car, which is used for shelter to lay eggs.

However, it blocks the fuel lines and can damage your engine.

Ford's fuel systems engineer, David Gimby, has been working to solve the problem for years. He started in 1999, and has been researching the life and science of spiders.

In 2004, the first spider screen was born and has been improved upon since then.

The screen is being added to the Ford lineup in North America. IT will go global with the launch of the all-new 2016 Ford Focus RS.
