Man faces prison after guilty plea in baby's shaking, death

MONROE, Mich. (AP) - A man faces up to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the death of a 9-month-old baby in southeastern Michigan.

The Monroe News reports 32-year-old Justin C. Davis entered the plea agreement with Monroe County prosecutors on Thursday. He told the court he was "very frustrated" when he picked up Kingsley Elizabeth Schwartz last August and shook her. She died after being taken to a hospital.

Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 9. The man from Ida Township told 38th Circuit Court Judge Michael A. Weipert that he knew he shouldn't have shaken the child.

Under the plea agreement, prosecutors agreed to dismiss felony charges of open murder and child abuse.
