Motor City Match helps Detroit entrepreneurs realize their dreams.

The program announced the latest round of businesses to get grants to expand their products and services.

Celebrating two years of helping new and expanding Detroit businesses, Motor City Match announced 13 more awards Monday totaling $500,000.

"We now have done eight sets of matches, $4 million in grants to new business start-ups," Mayor Mike Duggan said. "Twenty-six are open, 28 are under construction (and) 78 percent owned by entrepreneurs of color. We are creating a pathway for people who have the talent, who have the drive, but otherwise not had the financing."

Motor City Match has helped 763 businesses, with planning, site selection, design assistance and gap funding - not to mention nearly $4 million given away in grants to 87 businesses.
