Detroit Police said Tuesday afternoon that one man was killed and two others were critically injured when the car they were riding in crashed into a parked car and then wrapped around a tree.

Police responded to the accident near Sorrento and Clarita around 12:30. Detroit Police said the 1998 Chevrolet Malibu was going about 90 MPH on Sorrento when the driver hit the parked car. The Malibu flipped onto its roof and slid sideways into the tree, roof first.

First responders at the scene said the car was completely mangled and were unable to identify the three victims inside the car, aside from being three black men in their 20s.

Police said one man was killed in the crash and two others were critically injured.

"When I got on the scene, I saw the young man stuck in the car.  They were trying to get him out of the car using the jaws of life.  I saw the other young man on the ground, he was deceased," said Evelyn Dixon, a neighbor who lives in area.

At this time there does not appear to be any criminal activity other than a speeding car. Detroit Police continue to investigate.
