Rand Paul official says Rubio worker assaulted him at Mackinac bar

Hundreds of Republicans are gathering on Mackinac Island this weekend for the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference, which is held every year. This year, six GOD presidential candidates are there with their teams: Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina, John Kasich and Rand Paul. News is already breaking from the conference that some of the candidates' teams are apparently not getting along.

John Yob, who works for Rand Paul, wrote on Facebook early Friday morning that he was assaulted by someone from Marco Rubio's campaign team. He writes that he was punched by Rich Beeson, who FOX 2's political analyst Tim Skubick tells us is the deputy campaign manager for Rubio.

"He literally physically assaulted me by punching me in the face," Yob wrote on Facebook. He added the state police are looking for Beeson, and that the alleged assault was captured on video.

FOX 2 would like to make clear that Rubio and Paul themselves were not involved in the alleged assault.

It's all said to have happened at Horn's Bar on the island. Skubick reminds us that this is not the first time there has been trouble at the bar.

A few years ago, Mike Bishop, who is now a Congressperson but was the Republican leader at the time, got into a fight with a man from Clarkston over a carriage ride to get back to the Grand Hotel since no taxis were available.

This is a developing story. Stay with FOX 2 for updates.
