Rent Lions, Pistons gear with subscription-based jersey club

First Lions fans, now Pistons enthusiasts have the chance to rep their favorite players thanks to a subscription-based jersey club.

Originally football specific, Rep The Squad announced last week they are expanding to carrying NBA jerseys. From current to classic players like Grant Hill and Megaton, Detroit sports fans can rent jerseys for one game or for the whole season with a $19.95/month subscription.

A newer company, Rep The Squad has included Detroit as one of five franchises they carry, along with Denver, San Francisco, Seattle and Oakland.

Step one is signing up online at RepTheSquad.com and picking a jersey. You’ll find the likes of Matt Stafford, Darius Slay Jr. and Barry Sanders on the Lions side, and top dogs like Andre Drummond, Isiah Thomas, and Reggie Jackson on the Pistons’.

Keep the jersey for as long as you want, and when you’re ready to switch it up, just put it in the mail - they cover shipping costs and there are no cleaning fees. The next jersey arrives in about 2-3 days.

When it comes to lost or damaged jerseys, they write: "We get it. Stuff happens. Just get in touch with us and we'll work something out."

And as for stains? No charge.

"Hotwings are an important part of sports, and we get that. If you get a stain on the jersey, don't sweat it; we treat stains like Dikembe Mutombo treated layups… meaning we erase them, then dramatically wag our finger at them," they write.

Unlike a Netflix subscription, you can't share just yet - it's a one jersey at a time policy. But they say they're working on multi-fan memberships.

While they only carry basketball and football jerseys for now, they say baseball and hockey are on the horizon.
