Semi-truck on fire causes closure of I-275 at Sibley

WEB UPDATE (8 p.m.): One lane has been reopened allowing traffic to clear.

A semi-truck on fire has caused a total closure of I-275 Downriver Friday night.

Sometime after 6 p.m. the truck caught on fire near the Sibley exit. All lanes have been shut down on the south bound side. The fire has caused a backup for miles with vehicles being slowly diverted using the median between sides of the freeway.

The driver of the truck was able to escape without suffering any injuries, according to Michigan State Police.
