Smash and grab thieves hit Detroit Coney Island, steal ATM

A 24-hour coney island became the scene of Detroit's latest smash and grab by thieves.

"They reversed into building (with a pickup truck) about three to four times, and then finally got in," said Toney Dedvukha, owner of Grandy's Coney Island. "And they took the ATM and left. It took them like three minutes."

The owner was called to the scene around 3 a.m. Wednesday by his employees

"It's terrible that someone would do that for some petty money," he said. "A couple of hundred bucks, or whatever was in the machine."

Investigators said it was done by three men wearing hoodies with their faces covered by a face mask. They used a white four-door Silverado to smash into the restaurant and get away with the money.

Police say the search for those suspects continues as the investigation into other smash and grabs also continues...

The company that owns the ATM stolen from this Coney Island says in nearly two months. It has had five ATMs stolen out of coney islands.

The owner says the ATM stolen from Grandy's had $50 inside.
