Teen shot, killed while streaming live on Instagram: police

Detroit Police are investigating after a teen was fatally shot in what may have been an accident streamed on social media.

Police say the shooting happened just before midnight Monday in the 17600 block of San Juan, which is on the city's northwest side near Livernois Avenue and Curtis Street.

Police say two 18-year-olds were live on Instagram showing off gun and money in a living room, when one teen told police he accidentally put his finger on the trigger and discharged the rifle. The other teen was hit in the back of the head.

Medics responded and pronounced him dead at the scene. Police have the other teen in custody at this time.

The name of the victim has not yet been given.
