A woman's body found in the middle of a southwest Detroit street, police say it appears she was killed someplace else and dumped there.

The victim has been identified as a woman in her 60s, Carol Ann White. Her family is shattered.

"They just didn't hurt her," said Rose Graves, the victim's daughter. "They hurt an entire family because we are so devastated by this."

A family says they're looking for answers, wondering why someone would kill her.  Police found White's body Wednesday morning and continue to investigate the homicide.

"Whoever did it left her on the side of the road like she was a piece of garbage," Graves said.

White's family also says whoever killed their mother, savagely beat her face

"They shattered her teeth, her teeth are in pieces," Graves said.

Rose Graves says her mother was a survivor and had overcome many obstacles.

"Her addictions, she just recently found out she had lung cancer," Graves said. "And she was diagnosed over 18 years ago with HIV which was how full blown AIDS. But she has been taking her medication and she was really taking care of herself - and she was happy about life."

The family says whoever killed their mom took a precious woman away who loved her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

"We used to go out and do whatever we wanted," said Jordan Graves, her grandson.

White's grandchildren are trying to cope with the pain of knowing they will never see their grandmother alive again. And White's children say they're also trying to figure out how to give their mother a proper funeral.
