Woman hit, killed by driver on Woodward

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) - Police in Bloomfield Township are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that happened early Friday morning on Woodward Avenue.

The northbound lanes of Woodward were closed for several hours north of Square Lake Road. They have since reopened. 

Police say a woman was crossing Woodward, going east to west, around 5:40 a.m. when she was hit by a driver in a van.

The driver stopped and is cooperating with police.

Police are looking for witnesses as they're not sure why the woman was crossing the street. She hasn't yet been identified.
