Woman killed in Detroit hit and run

A woman was found dead near Junction and Fort run over, with needles near her body.

Detroit police hope the public's tips can help capture the person who drove over the woman early Thursday morning and kept going.

"It's sad someone lost a life, but what's even more messed up is somebody took a life and tried to get away with it," said one resident.

It happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. and investigators say they found tire marks on the victim's body, and needles at the crime scene.

At this time, police can only say the victim was a white female in her 30s. No description has been on a vehicle or suspect.

"It's very disturbing because we try to keep our block decent and this isn't a great place to live, so we try to keep this street alright," said neighbor Renee Rose.

Neighbors woke up later in the morning to see police at the scene, and did everything they could to help with the investigation.

"We woke up to homicide detectives knocking on the door asking us to see the security camera footage," said a resident. "I really don't know the woman, I don't know what happened, but I don't think it was an accident.

"No one is going to speak up around here, I hope they do, I know that was a woman that was somebody's daughter."

FOX 2 checked with the Wayne County Medical Examiner's office and the victim has not been identified.
