Missing truck driver dies from apparent heart attack in Dearborn

Police say 58-year-old Stanley Kasprzyk was working as a independent truck driver out of Chicago when a job led him to Kenwal Steel in Dearborn last Tuesday to pick up a load of steel.

It would be the last run Kasprzyk would make.

"Our sympathy goes out to family, he's a working man trying to make a living," said Lt. Douglas Topolski of the Dearborn police. "It was unfortunate that this had to happen."

Kasprzyk was scheduled to bring the material to Lexington Steel located outside of Chicago.  But suddenly Kasprzyk was no where to be found and calls to his cell phone went unanswered.

That's when his family contacted Chicago police for answers.

"The son of truck driver pinged his cell phone and got a satellite position," Topolski said.. "He called Chicago PD and they called us."

Police say the truck driver did pick up his load from Kenwal Steel but he didn't get far.

"He picked up the load of steel, he had a coil of steel on the trailer," Topolski said. "It was partially tarped. And they found him in cab of his truck with the motor running on Friday."

He was partially tarped.. Found in cab of truck with motor running on Friday.

Police say Kasprzyk died from natural causes.

"The medical examiner did autopsy already and it appears he had heart issues," Topolski said.

Now Kasprzyk's family is planning for a funeral instead of a homecoming

"The family will have funeral in Chicago maybe tomorrow and they will be able to pick up his truck and belongings next week sometime."
