Businesses celebrating Leap Day with deals

(WJBK) - February 29 a day that comes once every four years. It's the day in which the universe realigns itself with our clocks and calenders. This year, several businesses are hoping the day syncs up with your spending dollars. Here are some of the deals we found.

For starters, Pizza Hut is helping "leaplings" celebrate with a free personal pan pizza. (Leaplings have birthdays on February 29.) Hard Rock Café is also giving out a free entree to customers with a Leap Day birthday.

But if you aren't one of the estimated 200,000 people to have birthdays on Leap Day, no problem! There are still some deals out there for you. 

You can get a large pizza from Hungry Howies for just 29 cents when you buy a large, round one or more topping pizza at menu prize. The promo code is LEAP29 if you buy online. Happy's Pizza is also running the same deal. 

At Krispy Kreme, you can get a box of a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for only $2.29 when you buy any dozen doughnuts at regular menu price. This deal is good Monday only.

Also today only, you can get a small plate at Carrabba's Italian Grill for $2.29 after you spend $10. You can get the online coupon here. The restaurant is also offering a 20% off your bill coupon if you go to their website and them your email address. 

Many retail stores are also offering special deals or sales this week, but may vary store-to-store. Before you head out, do a quick search on the Internet, give your favorite store a call or or even check out hashtags like #LeapYear or #LeapDay.
