More than 50 shell casings found after shooting on Southfield Freeway

Police say around 50 shell casings were found along the Southfield Freeway Friday after a shooting overnight. The two people injured, we're told, are also not cooperating with police.

Michigan State Police had the freeway shut down on the northbound side between 7 and 8 Mile roads for a few hours overnight after two people showed up at the hospital with gunshot wounds. MSP says the victims wouldn't give them any information but they were able to pinpoint that the shooting happened on the Southfield Freeway in that area around 10 p.m. Thursday

Police say the victims are 29 and 30 year old males, and that one is in critical condition and the other is in stable condition. We're told the men were dropped off separately at the hospital.

MSP First Lt. Michael Shaw says the shooting does not appear to be random, and that authorities believe the victims know exactly who shot them. They're not being cooperative with police at this point in time, though, we're told.

Police don't have descriptions of the vehicles involved, and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to call the Metro South Post at 734-287-5000.

The Southfield Freeway has since reopened.
