ACCESS of Dearborn was one of 11 nonprofits selected to be part of the "Hamilton" creator's campaign to benefits immigrant-serving organizations.

Lin Manuel Maranda chose Dearborn nonprofit ACCESS to be part of the Immigrants: We Get the Job Done Coalition.

ACCESS honors its Arab American heritage through community service to all those in need.

"To be selected by someone of the stature of Lin Manuel Maranda - is such an honor because it allows us to talk about the significance of immigrant rights work, especially in our current political state," said Rana Abbas Taylor of Access. "One of the driving reasons he chose ACCESS was because of our campaign to take on hate."

In June, Lin Manuel Miranda kicked off the Hamilton in Los Angeles campaign to raises money to benefit the nonprofits in the coalition.

"The money always helps because it allows us to continue the immigrant rights work that we do to service the communities who often have been overlooked," Taylor said.

The campaign does more than raise money. People who make a donation to the campaign are entered to win a trip to Los Angeles to see Hamilton and meet its creator.

"He said I want to be able to give someone free tickets to the LA premiere while helping out a great cause

Once you make a minimum $10 donation, you can take an optional challenge.

"You make a video singing your favorite Hamilton song and challenge somebody else to do the same and it has caught fire it's been fantastic," Taylor said, who made her own video.

Taylor makes it clear the true intent of this campaign is to make a difference and raise awareness.

"We have made so many contributions as an immigrant community those stories aren't often told," she said. "The dedication to this country is one like I've ever seen and I think that story needs to be told."

The campaign ends today at 6:59 pm and ACCESS is hoping to make a last minute push for donations.
