Lockdown lifted after shooting outside of White House
The Metropolitan Police Department responded to the area of 17th Street NW and Pennsylvania Avenue around 6 p.m. on Saturday. According to the U.S. Secret Service, a person walked up to a security checkpoint, pulled a handgun out of his bag, and started firing at officers. Officers shot back, hitting the suspect. A bystander was also hit. Paramedics took the gunman to the hospital and later died, Secret Service confirmed. Multiple sources confirmed to Fox News Digital on Saturday that the suspect has been identified as Nasire Best, 21, of Maryland.
