Family thanks hospital staff after boy's rare condition
For his first birthday, Edison’s family is turning his celebration into an opportunity to give back to patients at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Instead of traditional birthday gifts, guests are donating gifts for children in the hospital — where ECMO, a machine that temporarily does the work of the heart and lungs, once helped keep Edison alive. The family will share his story of courage and hope, while doctors demonstrate how ECMO helped save his life.
