Man charged with beating 4-week-old son in Hazel Park
On Oct. 1, officers were dispatched to a home in Hazel Park on a report of a baby with a broken arm. Officers arrived to observe a 4-week-old baby that exhibited pain from the right shoulder and bruising above the left eye. The baby was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The hospital staff reported the baby sustained multiple fractures that included both arms, legs and ribs. All of the injuries were in different stages of healing. Officers interviewed the father who admitted that he becomes frustrated and cannot cope with the baby crying. The father told officers he took the baby into the bathroom where he forcibly squeezed and manipulated the limbs that caused the apparent injuries. The father was arrested at the hospital.
