Novi police launch suspicious death investigation
FOX 2 - Novi police are investigating the death of a 46-year-old man found dead inside his residence.
The backstory:
The deceased resident was discovered during a welfare check inside his home in the 30000 block of Joliet, near 13 Mile and Novi Road.
Social media reports alleged that gunshots were heard in the Oakland Glens neighborhood on Saturday night.
"At this time, investigators have not confirmed that gunshots were fired or that the reports are related to this death investigation," said a statement from Novi police. "Based on the information available to investigators, the social media, reports do not align with the preliminary timeline of the investigation."
The man had not reported to work that day, leading to the welfare check. He was the only occupant in the residence when he was found.
The investigation remains ongoing and the Michigan State Police Crime Laboratory is assisting in the case.
