Woman knocked unconscious during carjacking in parking lot of Ferndale bar

Bryan Marks

A Mount Clemens man allegedly knocked a woman unconscious and stole a car outside a Ferndale bar early Thursday.

According to police, two women were leaving New Way Bar on Woodward Avenue just after midnight when 40-year-old Bryan Marks allegedly stood behind their vehicle to block them from leaving. He accused them of nearly hitting another vehicle before punching the driver.

He then allegedly knocked the passenger unconscious when she came to help. As the driver tended to the injured passenger, Marks fled in the victims' vehicle.

Officers spotted the stolen car headed north on Woodward and tried to stop it. However, Marks kept going until he crashed into shrubbery outside a gas station in Royal Oak when he tried to turn onto Greenleaf from Woodward. He tried to flee on foot after crashing but was caught.

Marks is charged with two counts of carjacking, one count of fleeing police, and one count of operating without a license. His bond was set at $500,000 cash.
