WWII veteran from Michigan laid to rest after nearly 80 years
A World War II veteran from Flint, Staff Sgt. Max Thurston, was killed in combat in Germany on Nov. 4, 1944. He was 19 years old. On July 7, nearly 80 years later, Thurston's remains were fully accounted for and returned to his family. He was laid to rest in Holly on Oct. 12.
