Hegira Health and Downriver Council for the Arts collaborate on self-esteem youth art project
The Self Esteem Art Exhibition coincides with Mental Health Awareness Month in May. A strong sense of self-esteem is one of the foundations we all need to build resilience as we maneuver through the ups and downs that life can bring. Creating art can validate the uniqueness of an individual, which gives rise to a sense of accomplishment and to feelings of self-worth. The arts have been shown to support a sense of social identity and can encourage goal-directed behavior and enhance social resilience.
