Melvindale police officer facing multiple misconduct charges
Officer Matthew Furman is charged with three counts of common law offense - misconduct in office and assault or assault and battery and two counts of felonious assault. Common law offense misconduct in office carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, felonious assault carries a maximum penalty of four years in prison and assault and battery carries a 93-day misdemeanor.
