A Wayne County man thought it was bad luck when the ticket he bought jammed - but the clerk talked him into taking it anyway and it won him over $416,000. Now he's planning to share some with the clerk.
The Wayne County man is remaining anonymous but when he claimed his prize, he told the lottery that he stopped at the Citgo on Gibraltar Road in Brownstown Twp. and decided to try his luck.
“I had won a few bucks on some instant games, so I decided to buy a 100X The Cash Fast Cash ticket," he said.
Then fate intervened when the ticket jammed.
“When the clerk printed the ticket, it jammed in the machine and almost ripped in half. I didn’t want to take the ticket because I thought it was bad luck. I asked for a new ticket, but the clerk talked me in to taking the torn one. I am so glad I took his advice! I’m going to go back and share some of this with him because he’s the reason I’m here today," he said.
He claimed his big prize on Monday and plans to pay off his house plus set up a college fund for his son before saving what's left.
“I feel like I’m walking around in a dream. No debt over my head is a dream come true!” the player said.
Fast Cash offers a progressive jackpot that grows with each ticket purchased. The current jackpot amount prints on each ticket, so players always know the amount of the jackpot up for grabs. The jackpot may be won at any time. As soon as the jackpot is hit, a new one starts to grow.
