Gilda's Bras for a Cause

Bras for a Cause is back!

The annual event to benefit Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit features breast cancer survivor models taking to the runway with determination and pride.

This year – it still wasn’t possible to have a packed house – so FOX 2 teamed up with Gilda’s Club to safely record the runway – and bring it to you right here, right now. It’s a perfect way to keep the safety of the survivors at the forefront while also giving them the spotlight they deserve.

You can watch the show here or join Gilda’s Club for a special evening at the Drive-in!  The night will be filled with music, food from local vendors, drinks and a video production on the big screen of the inspiring survivor runway show.

Saturday, October 2, 2021
The Emerald Theatre
31 N Walnut St.
Mt Clemens, MI 48043

The drive-in event will be held in the Pine Street parking lot, which is located behind The Emerald Theatre.

Can’t make it to the drive in?  No worries – we have the show right here for you to enjoy right now.

FOX 2’s Amy Lange and FOX 2’s Lori Pinson were on hand – many feet apart of course – as we were there to record every special stroll down the catwalk. We honor the models but also the legacy of Shannon Watson – who started this event. Before Shannon died – Gilda’s Club was there for her – as they are for so many, providing free support to all those touched by cancer. Gilda’s Club can’t do their amazing work without your help.  You can support them or bid on auction items as part of Bras for a Cause at www.brasforacausemichigan.org

Here at FOX 2 we thank each and every amazing model who walked the runway. The songs you hear in the background of their runway walk are songs they picked because they have meaning to them or are part of their Art Bra theme. These ladies rocked the runway! It takes courage to get up there – and we were inspired.

A special thank you to photographer Brian Sevald who takes amazing photos of the Bras for the Cause event and shared them with us for our show.  See his other work  here:  briansevaldphoto.com

Thank you to the Emerald Theatre in Mt. Clemens for being so accommodating for our production and making sure it was a clean, safe space.

And finally – thank you to Gilda’s Club.  Cancer is isolating – but for those all those going through it and their families – Gilda’s Club is there.

ABOUT GILDA’S CLUB METRO DETROIT Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit is an affiliate of the Cancer Support Community.  Gilda’s Club offers support for those touched by cancer -- those diagnosed, as well as family, friends and caregivers. The program is locally funded through fundraising events and the generosity of giving individuals, companies and friends. The program is free to anyone who walks through the signature red door. Inspired by the late comedian and Detroit native, Gilda Radner, who said cancer gave her a membership to an elite club no one wanted to belong to. Her vision of support, education and empowerment for all cancers for men, women and children, led to the inception of a worldwide network.  Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit began in 1993 and has welcomed more than 10,000 people touched by cancer. The signature Clubhouse and red door in Royal Oak opened in 1998. Gilda had one true mission: So no one faces cancer alone.   www.gildasclubdetroit.org/
