(WJBK) - When we think about our homes, we sometimes take them for granted. But for a wounded veteran coming home from war, how their home is laid out is crucial. A group of fifth graders from Berkley are raising money for Building For America's Bravest, an organization that helps build smart homes for disabled veterans.
VIDEO: Amaya, Elise and Lillite from the team join us to tell us more about the project.
They're holding a fundraiser on Dec. 13 for Building for America's Bravest. They're hoping to raise $1,500, which could pay for a new wheelchair ramp or a walk-in shower for a wounded veteran.
The fundraiser is at Fowling Warehouse in Detroit from 12-4 p.m. Cost is $10 for kids and $15 for adults.
If you'd like to make a donation but cannot make the fundraiser, you can make a donation via their YouCaring page.
