Broadway in Detroit bringing 12 shows this season

(WJBK) - Broadway in Detroit is bringing five all-new Tony Award-winning shows to Detroit this 2016-2017 season, as well as four extra blockbuster shows.

The 2016-2017 Broadway In Detroit Subscription Season opens with the winner of the 2014 Tony Award for Best Musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder in October.

That show will be followed by: Fun Home, winner of five 2015 Tony Awards® including Best Musical, November - December 2016; Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, winner of two 2014 Tony Awards® and a 2015 Grammy Award®, December 2016 - January 2017; Hedwig and the Angry Inch, winner of the 2014 Tony Award® for Best Musical Revival, February - March 2017; and, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, winner of five 2015 Tony Awards® including Best Play, May 2017. Please note that all show dates may be subject to change.

The extra blockbuster shows coming this season are The Book of Mormon in November, The Phantom of the Opera in January, Disney's The Lion King in February and Motown the Musical in April.
