If you know of anyone diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, you know how terrifying that is.

Right now there is a young woman, a teacher in the local community who is dealing with that diagnosis. At FOX 2, a cherished member of our newsroom family, Pat Enderle, died from pancreatic cancer last year. She was 67 and completely caught off guard by the diagnosis.

Pancreatic cancer is the third-leading cause of cancer-related death, but a local organization that started small has transformed into a nationwide effort to tackle the disease head-on.

Joining FOX 2 is Loredana Gianino, a PanCAN volunteer for the Detroit affiliate, and Melissa Buot Favazza, who lost her mother and uncle to pancreatic cancer.
