Detroit Lions wives help organize bountiful Thanksgiving baskets

While the Detroit Lions players are working hard on the field to make it to the playoffs, some of their wives are working hard to help families in need have a happy Thanksgiving.

This week, nearly 100 families at the Coalition on Temporary Shelter will receive overflowing baskets filled with a turkey, side dishes and more to help them have a happy Thanksgiving. Several Detroit Lions' wives started the tradition at COTS in 2005, and now, over a decade later, the tradition is still going strong.

This year, 11 COTS clients will also be participating in HandUp Detroit campaigns, which crowd-fund initiatives that help them continue to rise out of poverty.
