Ferndale hosts DIY Festival this weekend

There is a fun and very creative way to enjoy yourself in downtown Ferndale with the DIY Festival.

Joining FOX 2 with a preview is DIY Festival artistic director Krista Johnston and one of the featured artists Shanta Ambady.

The event runs Sept. 21-23, Friday hours are 6 p.m. to midnight, Saturday hours are 11 a.m. to midnight and Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

There will be a diverse array of original, handcrafted quality art and culinary products; delicious Detroit-centric cuisine and live music, activities for all ages, and ice-cold craft brews and cocktails at this unique festival, which will feature 150 artisans showcasing their best work, a dozen food trucks, and over 40 bands on multiple stages.

Presented by Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers, the DIY Street Fair is located on the east side of Woodward Avenue between East Nine Mile Road and East Troy Street.
