Haven's 5th annual Blossom Gala May 3

Haven's spring-themed Blossom Gala is a night that celebrates new beginnings for survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.

The fundraiser raises money for the Oakland County nonprofit, and includes a seated dinner, themed cocktail bars, a dessert bar, performances from members of the Detroit Circus and the Detroit Women's Chorus, a floral photo wall, silent and live auctions, a raffle and more. Attendees will hear inspirational remarks and a personal story from Kelly Mays, a slam poet and domestic violence survivor.

The fundraiser is Thursday, May 3 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Royal Oak Farmer's Market.

Amna Osman, president and CEO of Haven, joined us on The Nine to tell us more. Chef Arie Bates from Katherine's Catering also joined her to tell us more about the food at the event, and to show us how to make a vegetable torta. You can watch in the video player above and get her recipe here
