FERNDALE, Mich. (WJBK) - A dog is in desperate need of care after he was found with burns on his back.
A group of concerned bystanders saved the dog from the streets - but now he needs help and a home. He was roaming about Ferndale when he was rescued Tuesday, found with scars up and down his back and was walking with a severe limp.
He was collared outside a party store at Livernois and Eight Mile. It is now nicknamed "Bjorn Ironside." The people involved said Bjorn may have run away from an abusive home.
He had been wandering in and out of traffic on Nine Mile and was nearly hit by a semi-truck.
One of the people who rescued the dog, Bill Peterson, used his own rescue dog to lure Bjorn to safety. The rescued dog is friendly with other animals, but afraid of people.
The plan is to get Bjorn to a vet and then get him adopted.
