A man convicted of setting his wife on fire is headed to prison.

A judge sentenced David Garnett Jr. to 11 to 50 years behind bars on Tuesday.

This month he pleaded no contest for attempted murder and arson. Prosecutors say Garnett was arguing with his wife at their Holly home on Grange Hall back in February when he doused her with gasoline and set her on fire.

She jumped out of a window and escaped to a neighbors house. Despite suffering second and third degree burns over part of her body, she survived.

At the time Holly Police Chief Michael Story told FOX 2 the woman's injuries appear to have been sparked by an argument and the couple was "going at it and it really just got out of hand."
