When it comes to breast cancer, early detection can mean the difference between life and death, but there are a lot of women who can't afford to get mammograms.

This Saturday the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority are setting up a mobile mammography unit to provide free breast cancer screenings.

Joining FOX 2 is regional director Carrie Clark.

The event runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Cobo Center. Register to make an appoint at assuredimaging.com/aka or call 888-233-6121.

Another scheduled event is the Community Service Project: Soul4Souls and Lion's Club International Thursday, April 18th from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

The truck will be at the entrance of Detroit Marriott. Drop off your gently worn shoes and eyewear at the Marriott.
