Pedestrian hit, killed in Macomb Township

A 33-year-old Detroit woman is dead after being hit by two cars in Macomb Township.

 

The Macomb County Sheriff's report that a deputy on patrol encountered with the woman whose car had run out of gas in the area of 21 Mile Road and North Avenue Wednesday night. The deputy helped the woman to a nearby Mobil gas station on North Avenue, just south of 21 Mile Road.

 

The deputy helped push her car and when she was safe, the deputy left her at the gas station.

 

After the deputy left, the driver, identified at 33-year-old Farai Gonzalez of Detroit, set out on foot. At this time, it is unknown to where she was walking.

 

Shortly after, deputies were dispatched to the area for reports of a pedestrian involved car accident.

 

When deputies arrived, the located Gonzalez in the roadway and performed CPR, while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

 

Gonzalez was transported to McLaren-Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 10 p.m.

 

It was determined that Gonzalez was hit by two vehicles, both of which remained on the scene following the crash.

 

The roadway was closed for several hours for investigation and reopened shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday.
