The first Primanti Bros. Restaurant and Bar is opening in Michigan Wednesday. In celebration, the restaurant is giving away free sandwiches for a year to the first 100 customers through the door.

Customers joined in at a tailgate starting at 5 a.m. and the first 100 tailgaters receive their coupon books at noon.

The new restaurant is at Southland Center, 23000 Eureka Road in Taylor. A second location in the Detroit area will open in Novi in September.

Primanti Bros. is known for their big, two-handed sandwiches. Since 1933, Primanti Bros. has been a staple in the Pittsburgh area. The "Almost Famous" Primanti Bros. sandwich is built between two slices of crusty - yet soft - Italian bread. It's piled high with a choice of grilled meat, an optional egg, secret recipe sweet-and-sour slaw, fresh-cut fries and two tomato slices.

The restaurant also offers salads, burgers and pizza.
