Retired police officer shot by masked suspect on Detroit's west side
A retired Detroit police officer was shot in a carjacking attempt Tuesday night.
The retired officer had pulled over in his vehicle to text a message to his wife. After being approached by a suspect in black clothing and a white mask, the two struggled and he was shot in the hip.
He was hospitalized in stable condition with non-life threatening injures.
The incident happened near Plymouth Road and Forrer, at about 7:30 p.m., according to a police spokesperson.
