SHELBY TWSP, Mich. (FOX 2) - There was an eerie similarity between the two bank robberies in Metro Detroit this week.
Police believe they were committed by the same man.
At 10:30 a.m. on Friday, a Huntington Bank in Shelby Township near 24 Mile Rd and Hayes had a "temporarily closed" sign posted on the door following a robbery.
"I'm shocked, this is a very safe neighborhood," said one driver.
A man was caught on camera approaching the desk, brandishing a note and walking out with money.
"Suspect walked in, demanded cash produced with a note and walked out with the cash." said Captain Jason Schmittler of Shelby Township Police Department.
A similar occurrence happened the day before, when a bank in Chesterfield was robbed in a similar manner.
The suspect is described as a white male weighing 300 pounds, wearing a dark coat, hat and glasses. Police also want residents to be vigilant of a white sprinter type van.
"You cannot outrun the law, it's a long arm," said the driver.
