Two more measles cases have been confirmed Wednesday in Southeast Michigan. The two new cases were found in Wayne and Oakland counties. This brings the state's count to 42.
Allison Weinmann, M.D., an infectious diseases physician from Henry Ford Health System is urging people to get vaccinated. The measles vaccine is highly effective and very safe. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a single dose of MMR vaccine offers 93% protection, two doses are 97% effective. If you're not sure if you were vaccinated as a child or if it's still effective, you can ask for your doctor for a simple test to find out.
