The University of Michigan announced Tuesday evening that classes at the Ann Arbor campus would be cancelled until Friday due to extreme cold.

U-M announced the campus would be reduced to emergency reduction in operations beginning Wednesday at midnight through 7 a.m. on Friday.

More school and business closings

The closure is because of the forecast which shows extreme, bitter cold descending on Michigan. With temperatures not even getting above zero and wind chills well in to the negative 20s or negative 30s, the University wasn't taking any chances.
