Detroit Denim is expanding their product offerings with the launch of a customizable jacket. Customers can choose their fabric, size, torso length, sleeve length, pocket arrangement, and add their name and a personal message to their jacket. They will be celebrating the launch of this new product with a party at their Midtown storefront, located at 4240 Cass Avenue. This event, celebrating all-things-denim-jacket, will be held on Saturday, October 7th from 12pm to 7pm. Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite jacket for a variety of hands-on embellishment opportunities. Complimentary repairs will be offered for all jackets that day, and guests can decorate their jackets through guided hand stitching tutorials, or select a patch to sew on to their jacket. Between 12 and 4, Michigan artist Dana Falconberry will be live chain stitching guests’ names and Michigan wildflowers onto jackets using her vintage Singer 114 machine. “Nearly everyone has a jean jacket in their closet and it is always such a personal garment. We love to see how people have made their jackets their own - from patches, to painting on them, to wearing holes in them from years of use, every denim jacket is unique and tells the story of its wearer,” says Brenna Lane, owner and CEO of Detroit Denim. “And if you don’t have a denim jacket to call your own, we’d love to make one for you. Having a piece custom made is a very special experience.” Detroit Denim will be offering 20% off all jackets ordered that day. Detroit Denim has been crafting heirloom quality denim garments at their Detroit factory since their launch in 2010. During the pandemic, they shifted their operation to a made-to-order model, culling their product line down to only jeans. Two years after their reopening, they are excited to be bringing jackets back into the rotation. “We really believe that the made-to-order model is the future of sustainability in the apparel industry. We’re proud to be making clothes right here in Detroit, and we want to make sure we’re doing so in a way that’s as thoughtful as possible,” says Lane. As an avid advocate for sustainable fashion, Detroit Denim prides themselves on environmentally conscious practices and exceptional fits for all bodies. Their made-to-order model ensures no waste from overproduction caused by speculative manufacturing, and allows each garment to be customized to meet the client’s size, shape, and style preferences. They produce all of their garments in-house at their Westside factory, and sell them through their website and their Midtown storefront at 4240 Cass Ave.
